2014-2015 School Year
Thanks to second-grade teacher Brent Kirk and Boone County's WVU Extension Office, Sherman Elementary School second-grade students had an opportunity to play with and learn from LEGO WeDo kits at the end of the school year.
Sherman Elementary School sixth-grade students worked very hard to create their Phases of the Moon wall project. For this project, the students learned about the names of the eight phases of the moon, what they look like, and what causes the different phases. They also learned where the moon is located in relation to Earth and the sun when each phase of the moon takes place. The students learned about stars and what their colors mean. Different color stars have different temperatures, which is shown in a chart on the wall. The students also researched fun facts about the moon, which they also placed on the wall.
Check out Michael Chapman's recess creation. He used blocks to build his own video camera, which he used to "record" his classmates while they played. His creativity and problem-solving skills are off the charts! Great job, Michael!
